Today Netflix decided to invite us on a tour of a house that will definitely be on our minds once their next limited series The Observer raw. Based on a true story, the show centers on a married couple who buy a dream home in Westfield, New Jersey, but soon find they’ve made a horrific decision when neighbors start harassing them. That’s not the worst part, though: They’re also getting letters from someone who says they’re watching the couple’s every move.
The characteristics of the clip Jennifer Coolidge (The White Lotus) as real estate agent Karen Calhoun, who shows us around the house, MTV cribs style. With a dash of comedy, the clip simply lets Coolidge be herself with her trademark humor as she plays all the house features. However, every once in a while a sinister (and amusing) remark pops up, like the moment she realizes you might fit an entire person into the kitchen lift.
Netflix is pulling out all the stops for Karen Calhoun to transcend the series: the streamer has even created a Zillow home listing page, where you can check it out in incredible detail. In the listing, Karen writes that the house was built in 1921 and “renovated to perfection.” Like any good real estate agent, Karen also manages to manipulate the truth and say that “the neighbors are really lovely” and “they’ll be watching you.” You can even check out Karen’s real estate listing below.
The Observer is created by ryan murphy and Ian Brenanwho both worked together on the hit musical series Joyand recently on Netflix titles The politician and Hollywood. The duo based the limited series on a shocking true story that took place at 657 Boulevard. The couple who bought the real house received chilling letters from a neighbor commenting on everything he did, giving his “approval” and writing things like “the house will not be happy with this decision”. All letters were delivered without a return address.
Besides Coolidge, the star-studded cast of The Observer also includes Naomi Watts, Bobby Cannavale, mia farrow, Margo Martindale, Terry Kinney, Joe Mantello, Richard Kind, Noma Dumezweni, Christopher McDonald, Michel Nouri, Isabelle Gravitt, Henry Hunter Halland Luke David Blumm.
Netflix has yet to announce a release date for The Observer.
