Jefferson Apartment Group (JAG), a leading multi-family developer and operator specializing in premier East Coast apartment communities, opened J Optimist Park in Charlotte, NC.
The start of construction comes about three months after JAG completed the purchase of 5 acres at 200 Wadsworth Place in the Optimist Park neighborhood, with partner Cadre.

J Optimist Park will be a 350-unit, 6-story building with a red brick and wrought iron exterior, a nod to the property’s industrial heritage. It will offer studio, one-, and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 523 square feet to 1,197 square feet, some with private balconies and downtown views. All units will feature high-end finishes including plank flooring, quartz counter tops, stainless steel appliances and tile backsplashes. In addition, 467 parking spaces will be available to residents, including both a garage and surface parking.
Amenities will include a resident lounge, game room, fitness center, open coworking space, pet spa, equipment room and bike storage with maintenance bench. Outdoor facilities include a resort-style pool, two courtyards, an outdoor yoga lawn, and a covered porch with a double-sided fireplace. The interior of the building assumes nostalgia meets vintage travel, inspired in a new way through a Vestaboard in the lobby lounge adding a distinctive railway element to the atmosphere and with touches of gingham patterning in the inspired interior design by the cloth factory which was formerly located next door to the present Optimist Hall.
Funding for J Optimist Park is provided by United Bank. Construction is expected to take place over the next two years with delivery scheduled for Q2 2024.
J Optimist Park is close to Charlotte’s downtown business district, with easy access to highways 277 and 74 and is walkable to the new Parkwood station on the Lynx Blue Line.
